Filming COWBOY DEL AMOR was a new, fresh road-movie-like experience. Being on the bumpy Texan-Mexican roads for hours and hours made me lose sense of time, and immerse myself in the subject of the film. Making COWBOY DEL AMOR gave me a window into middle-class rural America, as well as an opportunity to give a voice to urban Mexican women.

Documentaries are my passion. I make movies about people I love. Their intimate stories shed a light on the larger, universal issues. Whether it’s homeless women (IT WAS A WONDERFUL LIFE), inner city kids (COLORS STRAIGHT UP!) or cowboys in love (COWBOY DEL AMOR), I try to put a face on the unknown, and expose it to the large public in a touching, yet entertaining way. I am a great believer in cinema verite, and try to tell a compelling narrative through images and sounds. Documentaries don’t have to be boring!
