COWBOY DEL AMOR joins a growing list of films -- including Hal Hartley’s THE GIRL FROM MONDAY and Tim Robbins’ EMBEDDED LIVE -- that underpin Netflix’s efforts to provide an alternative channel of distribution for independent films. Netflix is becoming a significant force in the democratization of film distribution, helping subscribers find movies just right for them and providing filmmakers access to a broader audience. Through proprietary technology, Netflix makes personal recommendations based on member ratings and rental histories, enabling it to reach fragmented markets efficiently. The program creates a national distribution channel for films and entertainment programming that would likely not be otherwise available.
